The early image of a criminal, who was intent on getting to your hard earned cash, was of a mask wearing highwayman furiously waving flintlock pistols and shouting stand and deliver. The clever criminal has realised that waving any kind of fire arm tends to get you shot; hurts a lot and ruins your social life.Today, using computers, a cyber-thief can steal your money without leaving the confines of his/her prison cell.
The fraudulent techniques that are used today are basically the same as the ones used throughout history
- Someone is pretending to be someone or something they aren't
- Someone is selling something that they don't own
- Someone is selling something that doesn't exist
